Designed for pole installation, The pulley system enables the cable run to glide easily and reduces cable drag when running the cable. So How To Use It Properly?
Preparation for installation
Examine the Pulley System
Inspect the pulley for wear. Make sure the pulley is turning freely and is not jammed by dirt, debris, or rust. Test the rotation for a smooth operation.
If you have an insulator are part of your pulley system, inspect it for any cracks, or signs of damage or wear. The insulator needs to be whole for protection from electrical shock while installing.
Make sure the mounting brackets, bolts and nuts are all tight and they're not rusted out. A pulley system can be destroyed by bad weakened or loose hardware, like the ones mentioned above, during cable installation.
Confirm Cable Compatibility
Make sure the pulley system is suitable for the type of cable you are going to lay down. The pulley needs to be big enough considering the diameter and the weight of the cable.
Know the weight and tension of the cable that you will be pulling. Verify that the pulley system has an adequate safety margin of load capacity and will not experience slippage or excessive distraction.
Prepare the Worksite
The pole must be high enough and stable. If you’re working near live power lines, make sure you use all the necessary safety precautions to avoid touching any energized gear.
Installing the Pulley System
Attach the pulley
Pick a pole that matches well with the route of the cable you plan to run. Make sure the pole is high enough for the cable to run through the pulley unobstructed.
Securely mount the pole pulley system to the pole using the included pole mounts, bolts and other hardware. Place the pulley where you want it and test for stability.
Position the pulley so that the cable can move through it gently (without sharp bends). Keep the cable line straight as a arrow for less friction.
Position the Insulator (If Applicable)
If your pulley system comes with an insulator, install the insulator in accordance to the manufacturer's directions. Place the insulator so as to avoid any electrical connection with the cable and to a risk of shorts or sparks or electrical faults.
Inspect once more before installing to be sure that the insulator is firmly secured and there are no cracks or any imperfections that might reduce its effectiveness.
Inspect the Pulley Alignment
After installation of the pulley and protector, verify the pulley alignment to the cable run. Make sure the pulley is in line with the cable path so that it travels smoothly.

Run the Cable

Raise the cable to the required height, and bring it at the pulley. If the line is heavy or long, use a line hoist or winch to lead it into place.
Pulling and Inserting the Cable
Slowly push the cord into the pulley track of the door. The cable must be able to roll up freely and follow the same path as the pulley.
Start the Process
If you need, get a cable winch or hoist and start tying the cable. Tension the line slowly and evenly to allow the cable to settle without snapping, which could damage the line or the pulley.
Watch the cable as it moves to be sure it’s sliding as you expect. Look for obstruction or resistance, if you feel anything wrong stop the process immediately.
If the cable seems to be binding or rubbing excessively, stop and inspect the pulley system to see if it is aligned. Raise or lower the pulley or re-route the cable as necessary.
